This small-group tour (10 or less) is coordinated by Leslie Smith of Leslie’s Heart Travel in partnership with local family Moroccan tour company.

You will begin in Marrakech first heading north to discover Casablanca, Chefchaouen (the blue city) Fes, then going south to discover the magic of the Sahara Desert. We will return to Marrakech by driving over the famous High Atlas Mountains past traditional Berber villages. 

We will have the opportunity to overnight in alluring Sahara Desert. Erg Chebibi near the town of Merzouga. 

Description

With us you get very personalized service – like you are traveling with friends. I work with local Moroccans who have a deep love for their country. I pay them a living wage for their services. As your personal tour coordinator, I ensure everything goes smoothly. I have over 5 years of traveling and living part time in Morocco.

You will be in safe hands and will be taken care of by professional local guides and drivers, while you discover the real beauty of Morocco, its culture, history and traditions during your holiday stay.

Our Tours will allow you experience the exotic and magic of the country, know the originality of different cultures, live Morocco’s traditions in an exclusive atmosphere and discover some hidden treasures of Morocco that go beyond the usual touristic roads, that are unique by their authenticity and natural beauty.  

Our tours are private. You will have time to stop to take that special photo or take longer in a place that you like more and have all the attention and care of our guides.  

Our guides will accompany you during all the journey, and have a profound knowledge of the country’s culture and history, which they will pleasantly share with you and even surprise you with the opportunity of seeing and experiencing the true and genuine Morocco, that which is not touristy…. Always in the utmost safety.  

The Accommodation are mid-range (not luxury), all have typical Moroccan decoration, possess great quality and charm and are well located. All have western flush toilets. Most have AC. (Of the 2 that don’t have AC – 1 is a coastal town and 1 is a mountain town.)
Our cars are comfortable, and all have an official license for tourism granted by the government of Morocco.
 
OPTIONAL EXTENSION: Wellness Yoga Retreat – September 25-28, 2023 – $450 Additional

We will be in the coastal town of Essaouira the day before the tour ends in Marrakesh. If you would like to extend 4 day/3 night in Essaouira for a Wellness Yoga Retreat, (5-7 people) please ask and we will provide you with details.

Travel Plan

Our driver will be waiting for you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. No events planned. Just rest and prepare for the adventure to come as we explore the Magic of Morocco. Overnight in Marrakech 

After breakfast in your hotel. We will drive to Casablanca (3 hrs) to take a tour of Hassan II Mosque, the only mosque in Morocco that allows non-Muslims to enter. The mosque sits at the edge of the city with the Atlantic Ocean as its beautiful backdrop. It is the second largest functioning mosque in Africa and the 7th largest in the world. Its minaret is the world’s second tallest. 1 hr. tour to see the inside of the mosque (optional $12). After the tour we will continue onto Rabat (1 hr) and overnight there. In Rabat we will see the Oudayas Kasbah and Hassan Tower.

After breakfast we will drive to Chefchaouen, the blue city, located in the Rif Mountains of northwest Morocco, is known for the striking, blue-washed buildings of the old town. 

You can stroll (on your own) in the blue alleyways, where leather and weaving workshops line its steep cobbled lanes. Optional activities can be arranged if desired (not included in tour price.) In the main square of Place Outa el Hammam is the red-walked Kasbah, a 15-century fortress and dungeon, Chefchaouen Ethnographic Museum and the octagonal minaret of the Great Mosque. Overnight in Chefchaouen. 

After breakfast in your riad, we will drive to Fez. In the afternoon, you meet your local guide and the exploration of Fes begins. You will visit the Royal Palace, founded back to the foundation of the new Fes. Then on to Mellah, the Jewish quarter, where you see a 17th-century synagogue. Also, The University of al-Qarawiyyin, founded as a mosque, then became one of the leading spiritual and educational centers of the historic Muslim world.  As well as Chouara Tannery, the largest and oldest at the oldest Medina quarter of the city, surrounded by leather shops with terraces from where you look down onto the pits. Overnight in Fes. 

After breakfast we will drive to Boulaajoul. Along the way we will see the cedar forest in the middle Atlas Mountains and the town of Ifrane. 

On this day, after breakfast at your riad, we will make our way to Merzouga for your first overnight of the trip in the Sahara Desert at Erg Chebibi. You can ride a camel (optional)   Overnight at desert camp.

After breakfast in the desert, we will drive to the city of Zagora where we will have lunch. 
The 15-Day tour continues south on our way to our Riad in Tagounite.
 
OPTIONAL 10-Day Tour Split off from group
Day 7:  After lunch we head north (2.5 hrs) with a private driver to make your way back to Marrakech. Overnight in Ouarzazate. Optional activities include: Atlas Film Studio Tour – considered the Hollywood of Morocco – many movies have been filmed here over the years including Mummy, Gladiator and Game of Thrones. 

After breakfast in the riad, we will visit Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is considered a great example of Moroccan earthen clay architecture.Game of Thrones and other movies have been filmed here over the years. After this engaging tour, we will continue onto Marrakech. Overnight in Marrakech. 

After breakfast, we will stroll through the narrow streets of the old Medina *old city, and visit the colourful Souks/markets. Our local guide will lead us on a tour of Marrakech including the souks (market place), Jemaa el Fna Square, Saadian tombs, Bahia Palace and Koutoubia mosque. Overnight in Marrakech.
