Day By Day

Your adventure begins the moment you land at Entebbe International Airport, where your Oikos Safaris guide warmly welcomes you to the Pearl of Africa. After a short transfer to your charming lakeside lodge, take time to relax after your journey.
If you arrive early, we’ll take a scenic boat trip through Mabamba Wetland in search of the rare Shoebill Stork, one of Africa’s most iconic and sought-after birds.

Overnight: Tilapia Lodge, Entebbe

After an early breakfast, we set out for northern Uganda, driving through lush countryside and friendly local communities. En route, stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an unforgettable on-foot rhino tracking experience—your first Big Five encounter!
After lunch, continue to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and oldest protected area, famous for its thundering waterfall and rich wildlife.

Overnight: Hornbill Bush Lodge – Murchison Falls NP

The day starts early with a sunrise game drive across the savannah, where you may spot lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, leopards, and countless antelope species. The morning light paints the plains golden—perfect for group photos!
After lunch and a brief rest, embark on a boat cruise along the Nile to the base of the mighty Murchison Falls. Expect close encounters with hippos, crocodiles, and elephants, as well as vibrant birdlife along the riverbanks.

Overnight: Hornbill Bush Lodge – Murchison Falls NP

After breakfast, journey south through changing landscapes—from savannah to lush tea plantations and rolling hills. Enjoy photo stops and local interactions along the way.
We arrive in Fort Portal, a charming town at the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains, in time for lunch before continuing to our lodge near Kibale Forest, home of Uganda’s playful chimpanzees.

Overnight: Isunga Lodge – Kibale Forest Area

After an early breakfast, head into Kibale Forest National Park for a thrilling chimpanzee trek. Watch these lively primates swing through the canopy, feed, and groom each other—it’s an intimate experience with our closest relatives.
Later, drive through the Crater Lakes region and continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most diverse conservation area, known for its spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife.

Overnight: Pumba Safari Cottages – Queen Elizabeth NP

Start the day with a morning game drive through the Kasenyi Plains, known for its large herds of elephants, buffaloes, and Uganda kobs—and often lions and leopards.
After lunch, enjoy a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway linking Lakes Edward and George. You’ll see hippos, crocodiles, and countless waterbirds as fishermen paddle nearby—one of Africa’s most scenic wildlife encounters.

Overnight: Pumba Safari Cottages – Queen Elizabeth NP

This morning, take part in a guided village walk in the Kyambura area to meet local residents and learn about daily rural life in Uganda—an inspiring cultural exchange.
After lunch, continue south to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth NP, a wild and remote savannah famous for its tree-climbing lions.

Overnight: Topi Lodge – Ishasha Sector

Today, explore the Ishasha plains on morning and afternoon game drives in search of the legendary tree-climbing lions, often found lounging on fig tree branches. The area also hosts large herds of buffaloes, elephants, topis, and antelopes, providing amazing wildlife photography opportunities.
Return to your lodge to relax and share stories with your group as the sun sets over the savannah.

Overnight: Topi Lodge – Ishasha Sector

Journey further south through terraced hills and misty mountains to reach the famous Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home of the endangered mountain gorillas.
After a briefing, join your ranger guide for an unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure. Spend a magical hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat—an encounter that stays with you for life.

Overnight: Buhoma Community Rest Camp – Bwindi NP

After breakfast, travel to the tranquil Lake Bunyonyi, known as the “Switzerland of Africa” for its rolling hills and calm waters dotted with islands.
Enjoy a free afternoon to relax, swim, canoe, or take a scenic hike. Optional activities include boat rides to explore the islands or visits to local communities.

Overnight: Lake Bunyonyi Eco Resort

After breakfast, drive through the beautiful countryside to Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest but most charming savannah park.
Arrive in time for lunch and later enjoy a game drive, spotting zebras, impalas, elands, giraffes, and buffaloes. With luck, you might spot a leopard before sunset.

Overnight: Rwakobo Rock – Lake Mburo NP

Begin your last day with an early guided walking safari, a refreshing way to meet wildlife up close in a peaceful setting.
After breakfast, drive back to Entebbe with a memorable stop at the Equator line, where you can take fun photos and shop for souvenirs.
Arrive in time for your evening flight—or extend your stay for a night on the lakeshore to unwind.
