Queen Elizabeth National Park lies within the Albertine Rift Valley spanning a variety of eco systems. The crater lakes, grassy hills, open savannah, woodland and lush forest jungles, support plenty of wildlife in an area of 1,978 square kilometers.

Itinerary

This morning after breakfast, your guide will pick you from your hotel and drive to the western part of Uganda.  You will have a stopover at the Equator where you will be able to stand in between both hemispheres, take some photos and then head to Mbarara. It is from here that you will see the treasured long horned Ankole cattle. You will have Have lunch at one of the local restaurants and then continue through the lush hills to Queen Elizabeth National Park arriving in the evening. Have a game drive as you are entering the park.

It’s a little wonder that Queen Elizabeth boasts one of the highest bio diversity ratings of any game park or reserve in the world, – from the open Savannah to Rain Forest, dense Papyrus Swamps and brooding Crater lakes to the vastness of Lake Edward.

Almost 100 mammal species that include Lions, Hippos, Buffaloes, Leopard, Spotted Hyena, Elephants and the elusive Giant Forest Hog plus remarkable 606 bird species that include the Black Chested Eagle, the Swallow Tailed Bee Eaters, to mention but a few.

The Primates include Chimps, Black and White Colobus Monkeys, Blue, Black Faced Red Colobus, and Red Tailed monkeys and Olive Baboons.

Reptiles are the amazing huge Rock-Python, Puffadders, Spitting Cobras, Gabon Rippers, Green Mambas, Turtles etc. All these are regularly sighted around the tourist village on the Mweya Peninsula and all this makes a superb safari territory.

Birding is also wonderful. Queen Elizabeth Park has the highest recorded number of over 600 species of birds including the  Black Bee-Eater, Chappirs Fly Catcher, Bustards, craters full of Lesser Flamingos
